Having just arrived, the 747 stops on taxiway between Terminals 1 & 2 and shuts engines as tug crew comes over to hook up and tow on to gate. Reason is because if the airplane performs the turn to gate on its own power, the adjoining gates' equipment and people can get blasted by the engines' turbulence as power is applied to make the turn. Tow-on-only gates are common at many big airports for this important safety reason
