CONTINENTAL_737-700_EWR_0801_TAKE1_JP_small.jpgOne of the special photos in the collection. I am in the old EWR tower catwalk on a brilliant Sunday afternoon photographing, about 3 weeks before the attacks of 9/11.... Look at those beautiful towers standing tall and proud in this picture. God bless all the victims and families

BRITISHAIRWAYS_CONCORDE_G-BOAE_JFK_0702C_JP_small.jpgFor my British chap friends. I even put her a bit higher in the frame so the watermark doesn't butcher this beautiful thing. I will confess that I used to park next to her and just gaze at this beautiful work of art, the pride of Britain and France. Even 50 years from now, she will look like she "belongs" -that design will never be dated. This in-service shot was taken on the old TWA ramp at JFK in 2002

TWA_757-200_SJU_1297_JP_small.jpgWhat a place this was! You were able to stay up there all day long and take photos. There was a snack bar type restaurant up there- it was just great. Eventually they put up a taller fence (the one you see in this pic) making taxi-by shots difficult (but still good for landing shots), and then the place went out of business and don't know what's there now

I used to park next to the concorde many times at that spot and just sit there and stare at the beautiful lines of that amazing airplane

DELTA_757-200_JFK_0909Bjoepries.jpgSKYTEAM colors on this 757-200. Interestingly and as evidenced by the registration, this 757 was delivered to TWA, later operated by American and currently with Delta (with added winglets).

aa752_n716tw_fll_1_03.jpgN716TW is shown here in American Airlines livery after American's takeover of TWA. These days (2009) N716TW flies in Delta's colors with same registration and added winglets.

twan93119feb01.jpgI share this photo with a heavy heart. N93119 operated TWA flight 800, seen here on a cold February morning (registration not visible but a/c identification number 17119 seen above nosewheel door). This particular loss has always been the most painful for me, as I'm sure many of my friends at JFK and TWA would concur. May the victims of Flight 800 rest in peace...

n53116dec94.jpgIt's hard to tell until you see the large photo. I watched this TWA 747 land 31R, turned left taxiway Victor and all of a sudden it tipped on its left side. At first I had to take another look because I could not believe what just happened! Apparently the left main gear collapsed. Better on taxiway off the runway than when making contact on landing that's for sure!

twa747n133tw0994.jpgI know 3 good guys, ex-TWA, who will appreciate this photo as much as I do, Marc Hookerman, Jon Proctor and Ed Price. Long live TWA!

aa752_n713tw_fll_1_03.jpgI would venture to say that only hard core airliner enthusiasts know that this is a TWA 757 in American Airlines colors. After American bought out TWA, the 757's were retained due to their ETOPS capability. Eventually the TWA 757s that went to American went on to serve with Delta which flies them with the addition of winglets. It's a bit hard to tell with the size of this photo but if you look at the A in American, just below it to the left is a TWA sticker.

mexicana0704.jpgAlain Maca, president of JFK-IAT Terminal 4 JFK beams with pride as he hand flies the Mexicana A319, while the actual Mexicana A319 is parked just down the jetway, having just been bathed in a water canon salute welcoming Mexicana back to JFK

klm0703jfk.jpgThis photo was taken as a 30 second exposure. At the beginning of the exposure the 747 was parked at the gate but seconds later it was being pushed back which is why you can see the jetway and tower on the other side of the airplane. In 2004 this 747's wings and other parts were removed in Amsterdam and it was ferried by water over to the Aviodrome museum in Lelystad, Holland

n93107mar97.jpgThis one goes out to my good friend Jon Proctor who gave TWA over 30 years of fine service in addition to all the other folks that served this wonderful airline! Long live TWA!

CHAMPIONAIR_727_N681CA_LAS_02_07small.jpgAt the time, this was the last 727 passenger operator in the U.S. Sadly, Champion Air is no longer operating, and hence no more 727 pax operations in the U.S. anymore. Like many of you, I used to dismiss TWA, Pan Am, American, Delta and US Air 727s because they were so common. Not anymore...
