AEROGAL_A320_HC-CJW_JFK_0911B_JP.jpgThis was a huge surprise for me at JFK. I shot this airplane in Quito back in February of this year and did not think I'd ever see it in NY. Typical equipment used is 767-300 or 757-200, I guess A320's also now..
UPDATE: I am told by my friends in Quito that the 767 is down for maintenance for perhaps up to a month, hence the A320's being used to JFK

JAL_747-400_JA8076_JFK_0209_JP.jpgIn order to appreciate this photo, you have to picture the kind of temperature where if you're standing outside without gloves on, your fingers start to freeze within 20 seconds. With the brutal windchills that evening, it was below zero outside as this JAL 744 was flaring to land on rwy 22L

romaniayr-abb707_JFK_0910.jpgI know many of you will enjoy this beauty departing JFK's rwy 13L. To see a 707, let alone in action in 2010 is a very special treat. This once common airliner back in the 60's and 70's is today a very rare sight! It should be noted that this same 707 used to fly scheduled service from Bucharest to New York when it flew for Romanian Airline TAROM. UPDATE MARCH 2014: This airplane is parked in Brunswick Georgia. Future unsure.

JETBLUE_A320_LAX_0210jpavnet.jpgThis Jetblue A320, featuring a 10th anniversary livery has special meaning to me. I flew with Jetblue on February 11, 2000, before the airline began operations. On the flights from JFK-BUF, BUF-JFK, JFK-FLL, FLL-JFK were Jetblue's founder and CEO at the time, David Neeleman, David Barger (the current CEO), in addition to other lucky folks who got to fly on Jetblue that day before the company began operations that evening (JFK-FLL). The lights you see in the sky are a departing airplane on runway 25R

vgair330OO-SFQ802.jpgView in the cockpit of A330-200 at Flight level 410 (41,000 feet), having recently departed JFK's runway 13R, routing JFK-BRU. Leaving the USA in the evening and watching the sun set behind you is easy on the eyes, however, when the sun comes up again somewhere over the Atlantic it starts to get pretty uncomfortable in the cockpit, sun visors are a must.

twan93119feb01.jpgI share this photo with a heavy heart. N93119 operated TWA flight 800, seen here on a cold February morning (registration not visible but a/c identification number 17119 seen above nosewheel door). This particular loss has always been the most painful for me, as I'm sure many of my friends at JFK and TWA would concur. May the victims of Flight 800 rest in peace...

ati730plmar01.jpgCREW ON BOARD SURVIVED. Actual takeoff weight was 342,000lbs. 242,000lbs was the takeoff weight calculated, this is the result. Flight routing was JFK-BRU. I arrived on the site a couple of hours after the crash and PAPD/FDNY were still putting out the smoldering cargo inside. Luckily 3 crewmembers and 2 pax survived. More photos of the site to come in the future. My friend Dave Kaufman actually witnessed this aborted takeoff from the control tower, perhaps he can add more in the comments section.
